AT&T internet’s 3G wireless broadband coverage is about what you’d expect
neither as evanescent as the morning dew, nor as immutable and reliable
as the earth beneath your feet. No – it’s somewhere in between, with the
degree of “in between-ness” relating to the proximity of your mobile
device to a city.
It’s been said countless times by folk other than me, but I’m going to
weigh in my penny’s worth anyway: when can we people who don’t live in
cities have decent broadband speeds, please? Out here in the sticks, the
best we can hope for from *any *mobile device is EDGE, the snail-slow
poor cousin of 3G. Come out to the country anytime, with your AT&T internet
wireless device, and you’ll see your reassuring blue 3G light change
inexorably to the depressing green of the EDGE system.
For a comparison: imagine that you’ve gone back in time to the late 1990s,
when using the internet meant turning on a modem that looked like a small
bomb, then going off and making a cup of coffee while it whirred and
wheezed into life. That’s what net use on the EDGE system is like. I’ve
enjoyed connection speeds as unimaginable to you city dwellers as a
caveman’s dinner. Try 15 Kb ps and see how you like it. That’s right: *K*

To be fair, though, *AT&T

One of the great things about Mobile Broadband is that you can go online anywhere you like – but you can almost guarantee that the place you need it the most is the place where signal is at its weakest.
While 3G coverage is getting stronger with all networks, there will still be blackspots where it drops out, or you can only pick up a 2G signal. Thankfully, a couple of solutions are now available to try and get round these signal issues.
There are now three different types of antenna available:

Clip Antenna: This Antenna is designed to be a portable solution that clips onto the screen on your laptop or sits on your desk. It is omni-directional, which means that it will pick up signals from all directions.
High Gain 3G Directional Antenna: This is a much more powerful signal booster than the clip antenna and is ideal for people who have problems with 3G reception or use their dongle in a fixed location. They are directional, which means that you will need to point this towards your network’s transmitter in order for it to improve the signal. The High Gain antenna when positioned correctly will make a significant difference to the signal you receive and can be wall mounted as a permanent fixture.
Mobile Broadband Outdoor Panel Antenna:This is also a more powerful signal booster than the clip antenna and is ideal for people who have real problems with 3G reception. They are also directional, which means that you will need to point this towards your network’s transmitter in order for it to improve the signal. The Outdoor Panel antenna when positioned correctly will make a significant difference to the signal you receive and is designed to be wall/pole mounted outside.
Each of the antenna’s can make a big difference to the signal you receive. Some will have an ariel connection that will plug straight into the dongle, and others will use a Universal “strap on” connection.

Who don't want to improve their home signal and get high quality services? If you have little ore time you can make a dipole antenna to get more than 50 tv channels at free of cost with high quality images.Fitting a simple, passive, parabolic reflector around your router's antenna can focus the signal exactly where you want it. Your network will reach farther, and the addition can even improve your network security. Follow along for step-by-step instructions to create your own homemade signal booster

First make an exact dimension to make a parabola. Then take a copy of that.

Then cut a foil or smooth covering paper with respect to the dimension that we made previous step.

At last, apply glue and firm it on a stand.Attach a connection behind the foil and firm it oppositr to east-south direction.

Google Inc's new social network has attracted 25 million users, making it the fastest website to reach that audience size, according to data released by comScore.

Google+, launched in late June, had 25 million unique visitors as of July 24 and is growing at a rate of roughly one million visitors a day, comScore noted in a presentation.
.
In contrast, it took Facebook about three years to attract 25 million visitors, while Twitter took just over 30 months, according to comScore.
While the data show Google's latest attempt at breaking into social networking has started strongly, it may not mean the project is a long-term success.
.
MySpace grew to 25 million unique visitors in less than two years -- faster than Facebook & Twitter.
.
However, it's lost a lot of visitors in the past year, comScore data show.
The United States had more than 6 million unique visitors, and India more than 3.6 million, the data show, Canada and the UK had around 1 million unique visitors each, Germany over 920,000 and Brazil just over 780,000.

I think you have already read my post written about Akash tab's specifications and performance.Today we are going to discuss the top threats that face this tab.We can discuss by points.
AVAILABILITY
Government of India says that it would be available on market since december 2011.But the same time the developer,Datawind says that it will be released only after 2012.
The information on its development was strangely unclear. We did cover it’s announcement over a year ago in July 2010. After that it seemed like the project was scrapped and suddenly it is being released in January 2012.
About 100,000 units will be available in January 2012, but still no clarity on which universities will be covered or even how one could pre-order the commercial version of the tablet.
CONNECTIVITY
If the tablet is meant to go into the hands of people who cannot afford a computer, I wonder how they would afford to pay for its connectivity. Even if they can afford internet connectivity, broadband internet is not all that easily available in rural parts of India.
It has a WiFi card along with support for GPRS. GPRS is ridiculously slow and prohibitively expensive. The other option of is WiFi connectivity, but even that is not easily available.
SUPPORT
Another problem arises on the issues of support. Who will support the tablet? What will be the developer environment around it? What sort of apps will it run? What will be the encouragement for developers to build apps for this particular device?
I do not want to write-off this project as a failure even before it starts but these 5 issues will be key. I am not sure if India has the infrastructure to support such a product, especially in rural areas. I think the creators have done a great job of creating a tablet device at such a low price. It is a technical marvel in that sense, but now its true test will begin.
It's my humble request to discuss your own reviews about this product here.

Yes.World's toughest automobile developers has introduced their world's toughest phone. They have manufactured this phone in association with Sonim corp.
However testing of this phone was very interesting. They did 3 step process to check its durability and toughness.
During testing they ran over it with a Land Rover, submerged it in mud and had an elephant stand on it to test its durability.
The S1 features up to 1,500 hours of battery life, a 2.0 megapixel camera and an extra loud ringtone to be heard over the sound of heavy machinery.
Tesco, who launch the phone today at a retail price of £249.99, are so confident it can't be broken that it comes with an unconditional three year guarantee.
But staff at The Sun, who laid hands on the S1 a day before it was released, managed to crush the gadget under the weight of a three-tonne forklift truck.
Before it was finally broken, the phone had survived being roasted in an oven at 150 degrees centigrade, soaked in a pint of lager and tossed from the second floor of a building.
The S1 is available for £25 a month on a contract with Orange and is being sold exclusively by Tesco.

Before beginning the post i would pray for the soul of late techno giant STEVE JOBS.
All of you have heard that apple iphone 4 is great in technology and all other features.Apple inc. has launched a new technique "Find my iPhone".Let me explain,
Sure, this feature will help iphone to compete with other smartphone giants.
This feature enables you to find whether your phone is stolen.
However, Apple has filed for patent a new feature that can even allow the lost or stolen iPhone's owner to see or hear where it is located by remotely activating the phone's camera and microphone.
Moreover, the new feature will allow the owner of the lost/stolen iPhone to select specific files and apps and lock them. the owner can "scramble" them to protect them. After recovering the iPhone, the owner can unscramble them to recover the data.
This new feature has not been confirmed or announced by Apple but was found in the filings of the company published by USPTO.
The drawings and descriptions in the filings also suggest that the iPhone owner can pick and choose what data and applications can be accessed by the thief or the one who has found the lost iPhone.
The patent also describes that the thief/finder of the iPhone would get a message that the device is being pinged for its location. The thief/finder will then have two choice: either enter the correct password to cancel the request or contact the owner of the iPhone.
Incidentally, the 'Find my iPhone' service turned two years last week. The service was originally released as a part of the paid MobileMe service but it is now free for anyone with an iPhone 4, iPad, or 4th generation iPod touch (iOS 4.2 or later required).
The new feature of 'Find my iPhone' can decidedly swing sales in Apple's favor, as iPhone is currently struggling to keep pace with Android sales.
Apple has been facing a huge challenge from Android smartphones lately. According to a comScore report, the market share of Google's Android surged to 36.4 percent while Apple's IPhone dropped down to second place with 26 percent market share or barely ahead of RIM's BlackBerry (25.7 percent).
In terms of mobile phone sales in the U.S., Apple ranks No.4 (8.3 percent) behind Android smartphone makers like Samsung (24.5 percent), LG (21 percent) and Motorola (15.6 percent).
A Nielsen survey also reveals that Android users download more apps on average than iPhone users despite Apple's App Store being more than twice bigger than Android Market Place.

'Find my iPhone'- Apple's new feature to compete
Posted by

New telecom policy to allow free roaming
Posted by

NOTE:THIS IS COPIED FROM WWW.HINDUSTANTIMES.COM AND NOT WRITTEN BY ME
The new telecom policy will bring cheer to consumers with the government Monday proposing to remove roaming charges for subscribers within the country, exponentially increasing broadband availability and speed and allowing for mobile numbers to be ported to any part of the country.
According to the draft of the New Telecom Policy unveiled by communications minister Kapil, roaming charges will be done away with and users will be allowed to port their mobile numbers, keeping the same number, even while switching service areas.
The new policy also proposed to accord the telecom industry the status of an infrastructure sector, which will help ease credit flow to companies for funding roll-out plans or expansion activities.
Mobile service providers would also benefit from the policy as it proposes to allow companies to pool, share and later trade spectrum -- a scarce resource. The minister also said the government would look at bringing legislation for governance of spectrum.
"We believe it is imperative to move towards convergence of telecom, broadcast and IT services, networks, technologies and overcome all existing segregation of licensing, registration and regulatory mechanisms with the objective of enhancing access and reduce costs," Sibal said while unveiling the draft of the new policy.
"Revenue generation will play a secondary role," he added.
Sibal also said that his ministry was targeting increasing rural tele-density from the current 35% to 60% by 2017 and completely covering rural areas by 2020.
Broadband penetration is another key thrust area for the new policy. The minister said the government was targeting 175 million broadband users by 2017, and increasing this to 600 million by 2020.
The final telecom policy will be announced by December.

Aircel, Huawei and Qualcomm have successfully tested a dongle which works on existing 3G, GSM and CDMA networks, apart from the newer LTE (4G) TDD and FDD networks. Other operators are also conducting trials.
Operators are preparing to launch 4G networks, which will bring down the cost and will work at higher speeds.
The reason for the low cost of 4G networks is two-fold:
1.) it will be able to use existing network infrastructure with slight modifications; and
2.) spectrum for 4G network was licensed to operators at a much lower cost (AS WE EXPECTED)compared to 3G network.

LTE can bring speeds of up to 100 Mbps download and 30 Mbps upload, while WiMAX, which is currently being used to connect rural Indian villages, delivers 40 Mbps download speeds.
(Sample 4G Speed Boston)

While Reliance bagged spectrum in all 22 circles, Airtel got licences for four circles, Aircel for eight, Tikona in five circles, and Qualcomm (which is in the market to promote LTE) also bagged spectrum in four circles. BSNL and MTNL had got spectrum even before the auction but have so far launched WiMax in very few locations.
The problem right now is that devices supporting LTE TDD (the version of LTE that will be deployed in India), are not available right now. But that problem is soon going to become history. Qualcomm has confirmed that LTE devices will be available in bulk by the end of the year. More than 70 percent handsets worldwide use Qualcomm chipsets.
SOON WE EXPECT ALL NETWORKS WILL LAUNCH 4G

Though it is not clear when iPhone 5 will be released, we have been hearing all kinds of rumours about the phone and not a single day goes without an irrelevant rumors that pass by.
However, a little birdie revealed that the Apple’s iPhone 5 could be thinner and wider than iPhone 4. this is however based on the photos that were published on the Italian blog MacityNet. The photos revealed not the iPhone, but the purported iPhone 5 case. It may not be true that Apple is really considering increasing iPhone’s size from what it is right now.
However if one observes the trend in the Smartphone industry, most of them have been unveiling devices that are 4 inches or larger. iPhone 4 has a width of 3.5 inches and if the purported iPhone 5 cases are authentic, it could be quite possible that the iPhone 5 would be either 4 inches wide, or larger. This might make the iPhone a little too wide to be kept in the pocket, unless you wear over-sized clothes. However, if it turns out to be true, people may end up using iPhone 5 more often than iPad to consume content. The larger the screen, the easier it is to consume content and an iPhone 5 which has a width of more than 4 inches could cannibalize the iPad. Right now, the iPad is really popular with those who consume content.
Of course, that is an exaggeration, and even the exaggerations depend on obscure rumours from an Italian blog’s pictures of purported iPhone 5 case. The build-up of excitement before any new productlaunch is understandable, but Apple fans tend to go a little too further when it comes to getting excited about new Apple product launches. If you were wondering what it might be like when the iPhone 5 is finally launched, well, you will just have to wait to know.
