SmartPhones V/S computers,the competition which would come in existence is the near future....

Today, computers and phones are practically the same device. Many smart phones can now perform almost all important tasks of computers such as emailing, writing blog posts, and even information storage.
The integration of computers into cell phones wil replace the laptop or computer.Surely its going to replace PC's in coming years.

Smartphones have great capabilities to surpass some of the best computers and laptops available in market today.Probably smartphones has an additional calling feature.

Todays smatphones have a 8 megapixel camera even with a LED Flash light even with Full HD capture and recording capability.I have not heard of any laptops having such a feature.May be a high end laptop would have this feature.If a laptop top like this prevail,sure your pockets are going to tear if u buy such one..:)

With a smart phone, you can now live stream movies and videos, download songs, shot and edit pictures and HD videos, type and send emails, and create and post blog posts. You can even organize documents and collect data. The only drawbacks to owning a smart phone and not a laptop are display size, memory, and a keyboard.

But you can go for tablet mobiles and adjust with the screen size.You can decently watch movies and photos in a 4 inch screen.However, smart phones now have the capability to be plugged in to a flat screen TV. So now you can live stream TV and movies and play them on your TV.Maybe using an HDMI cable.The memory can probably store your favourite music collection and videos.Typing over a keypad is not much a problem.You can type decently with them.Many smart phones only come with type pads that are only a few inches big, many are now selling foldable, full-size keyboards as accessories for smart phones.

Smartphone cant satisfy the high end gamers even though iOS and android are creating some.You may not be able to have such a feeling while you play in a desktop..Sorry Gamers..You still need to continue in Desktop..There are chances for high end games o arrive for Smartphones...

There is no doubt that phones are becoming increasingly important in our day-to-day functions. Although whether or not smart phones will one day replace the laptop is still in question, it is sure that right now they both compliment each other incredibly well.

I just made a forecast.Will desktops eventually go away completely? Will they be replaced by  Smartphone/laptop hybrid device? Will two of these three platforms survive, or will all three co-exist in the future as they do now?  Whats your forecast?Leave your forecasts as comments...:)

The Android Market has grown at a rapid pace, even with fragmentation issues that continue to plague the OS. The Market surpassed the 200,000 and 300,000 app milestones in April and August last year. Distimo said new free and “freemium” applications are the key to the surging numbers in the Market, and now two-thirds of Android apps are free.

By comparison, Apple’s iOS App Store currently has more than 540,000 active applications, according to 148Apps.biz. Distimo points out that it took two more months for the Android Market to reach the 400,000 app milestone than Apple did in the same amount of time.

Just last week, Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 OS hit the 50,000 app milestone, which seems paltry in comparison to iOS and Android’s app battle. But retrospectively, Windows Phone 7 is younger than Android and iOS by a few years, so it hasn’t had as much time to grow.

In a final note on Android’s app numbers, Distimo said the Android OS now has nearly 100,000 publishers pushing out apps. Based on this number, each developer publishes 4.1 apps on average, while developers published nearly five apps on average a year ago. This means many more companies have sought to offer their apps on the Android platform, most likely as a second platform after iOS.

 The Android Market is now the largest store in the world for free apps, with 68 percent of its titles going for nothing upfront, and 65 percent of the store's revenue being generated by a freemium model. In contrast, less than half of Apple's App Store revenue comes from free apps. The next big gap for Google to close will be in total income, as Apple collects around four times as much from its App Store as Google does from the Market.

Android is growing,but apple still reigns Supreme......

Google’s Chrome browser appears to be soaring up the charts, taking over the number two spot from Firefox in StatCounter’s latest global survey.

 

In October, Google CEO Larry Page announced that Chrome had 200 million active users, excellent growth considering the company announced 70 million active users at its 2010 I/O conference. The browser appears to have continued that torrid pace.

According to the survey, which measures Web usage as opposed to downloads, Chrome has 25.69 percent of the market; IE has 40.53 percent. Chrome also remained the number-two browser in Britain, a spot that StatCounter said it nabbed in July.

In the U.S., however, Firefox is still holding on to the second spot, with around 20 percent versus Chrome’s 17 percent. But Firefox has lost some of its market share as Chrome gains.
The results could also foreshadow a battle between Microsoft and Google against each other for the top spot, though Chrome admittedly has got quite a bit of catching up to do.

Apple has finally broken radio silence over criticisms of lackluster battery life affecting iPhones old and new since releasing iOS 5 last month.

In a statement provided to AllThingsD, the company said it's aware of the problem and plans on offering a fix in the form of a software update.

"A small number of customers have reported lower-than-expected battery life on iOS 5 devices," Apple told the outlet. "We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks."

As noted last week, users have flocked to Apple's support site to complain about lower than advertised battery life on the new phone, which went on sale in mid-October, as well as on Apple's previous models.

Affected users say fully-charged devices are running out of juice during the course of a workday, even with minimal use, a problem that was not present on their devices before the iOS 5 software update.

So far, users have scrapped together a number of solutions, from turning off software features, to turning off the device itself. But reports on success have been mixed, with some users experiencing more battery drain than others, and some even reporting battery life improving since updating to iOS 5.

iOS 5 spent a considerable amount of time in near-public testing before it was delivered to users. The software, which Apple says adds more than 200 features the previous version of iOS, went through seven beta versions for developers inside a four-month span.

Unlike its predecessor, the iPhone 4S is the first to sport a dual-core chip that can pump out what Apple says is twice the performance compared to last year's model. During the phone's unveiling last month, Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, suggested that the company had not only matched the battery life of the previous model, but beaten it in some cases.

As BGR reports, Apple has already released a beta version of the updated software to developers, dubbed 5.0.1 that "fixes bugs affecting battery life," as well as bringing multitasking gestures to the original iPad, improving voice recognition for Australian accents, and fixing bugs with documents in Apple's iCloud. Not mentioned is an echo that's affecting some iPhone 4S owners who use a wired headset when making phone calls.
